My kids love it when I show them sifts. Occasionally I'll let them browse the Kids channel. Well it's been awhile.
The Featured Member Comment shouldn't be on the Kids Channel for obvious reasons
So.. is the only option to filter the feature comment off like I would NSFW? It would be nice if the channel itself was safe for kids w/o having set filters...

It's one step in the right direction by not displaying inappropriate videos in the featured comment box, though colorful language may still appear.
Do these two changes seem enough?
Thanks for the star point too, GH
^That seems pretty good, lucky. If any sifters' kids ask what "f&#@ing c@# " means, just tell them "feasting corpse". That will put their minds at ease.
Its a good point (raised before I think too) hehe, yeah, I think I think replacing swearing with smiley faces! Then no explaining to do. (although if anyone does try to explain anything away with "feasting corpse" I feel compelled to say "Nom Nom Nom Nom!")
Fudge Yeah!
I would still prefer the featured comment was killed, but this was a nice change.

You're aware you can now disable it for yourself via the filter preferences in your account settings, yes?
Well, what if it was labeled "Randomly Selected Comment of the Moment" instead of just "Featured Comment?" Would that make it a *little* better on people since they'll know at a glance it's just a randomly selected comment?
It can add humor and community to see "you mother butterchurn" instead of "you mother f&$^#er
Done! Of course you'll have to turn your NSFW filter on to see it in action. I won't spill the beans about the magical translation. It's like the matrix: No one can be told what it is; you have to see it for yourself.
I added one more change to the featured comment. If you have your NSFW filter on, swear words will be masked, so something like "fucking cunt" would appear as "f&#@ing c@# ".
Do these two changes seem enough?
f@ you, you f@ing c@#*!
I'm testing... I'm not cursing at anyone ok?
[dirty words later edited out
hmmmm, nothing's different. Did I understand correctly that bad words are going to be filtered?
If we were to filter *all* comments, I don't know if the NSFW filter would be the method to use. Rather, it may be best done with a member prefs setting or something because most people with NSFW enabled will probably not want all comments filtered.
I think this is a whole new topic we may need to discuss.
