You know, even though it's not intended as such, this serves as a pretty decent *howto on how to make a kite.

Indeed, the Christian reference is probably not intended but that's some sharply observed symbolism:) And it's kinda dark..that's life as well kids!
The cross is an ancient symbol that pre-dates Christianity:
